Delhi Metro construction sites have witnessed a remarkable plunge in dust pollution-related complaints, falling from 640 to merely 24 during the initial months of 2026 compared to the previous year. This decline highlights significant improvements in pollution control measures by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
A senior DMRC official acknowledged the achievement, attributing it to enhanced dust mitigation strategies, rigorous monitoring, and a more efficient complaint resolution system across construction zones and operational stations. Previous complaint data showed a steady rise over the years, signaling a pressing issue as metro expansion accelerated in the city.
However, the recent implementation of strict anti-dust measures, alongside environment restoration initiatives like using groundwater for lake rejuvenation, has prominently reversed this trend. The deployment of anti-smog guns, water tankers, and mist spray systems, coupled with environmental restoration projects, reflects the DMRC's commitment to providing a cleaner environment for Delhi's residents.
