A destructive earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale shook parts of northern and eastern Afghanistan, along with western Pakistan, late on Friday.
According to Kabul's governor's spokesperson, the earthquake left at least eight people dead. The quake originated in the seismically active Hindu Kush range, about 150 kilometers east of Kunduz.
Its effects were widespread, felt significantly in cities such as Islamabad, Peshawar, and Swat. Emergency services in affected regions have been placed on alert as communities continue to assess the damage.
