Securing India's Water Future: A Call to Action

Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil called for urgent water conservation and active citizen involvement at the World Water Day Conclave held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre. Highlighting crucial national reports on water management, Patil also commended officials for their efforts in water conservation. Key documents including the National Water Data Policy 2026 were unveiled.

In his address, Patil stressed that water conservation is a shared responsibility and not merely a right, urging citizens to adopt rainwater harvesting to secure future water availability. He emphasized that safeguarding water resources is vital for India's development, with initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission progressing towards the goal of providing piped water to all households.

The importance of data and planning in water management was underscored with the introduction of the National Water Data Policy. Patil assured that, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is equipped to handle potential water crises, referencing historical warnings about conflicts over water. The conclave gathered various government and industry representatives in a united front for water security.
