The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) unveiled the 'Mumbai Clean League', a comprehensive cleanliness competition designed to engage citizens, celebrities, and a variety of establishments citywide. Initiated by actor Akshay Kumar, the project takes cues from the Indian Premier League to make cleanliness a competitive affair.
Announced in the presence of Kumar and civic leaders, the competition will involve housing societies, schools, slums, hotels, and other establishments under multiple categories. Prizes and property tax concessions await the winners, encouraging public participation. Kumar serves as the brand ambassador, urging every Mumbaikar to take responsibility for the city's cleanliness.
The BMC ensures a transparent process through QR codes and real-time evaluations accessible online. With third-party assessments, the initiative embodies a move towards greater urban cleanliness, leveraging celebrity involvement and civic engagement to change public attitudes toward waste management.
