A symbolic cycle ride is scheduled for March 28 in Mumbai, aimed at engaging the city's 227 newly-elected corporators in promoting cycling and sustainable living. The ride is designed to enhance awareness about urban air quality, according to the initiative's organizers.
The two-kilometer journey will commence from Azad Maidan in South Mumbai, proceed through Metro Cinema, and conclude at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters. This symbolic event seeks to enlighten elected officials about the critical need for environmental protection and the promotion of eco-friendly transport modes.
Vishnudas Chapke, convenor of HindAyan Foundation, said, "This year in Mumbai, we've invited the newly-elected BMC corporators to join the ride to underscore fitness and environmental stewardship." The HindAyan Foundation, in collaboration with the BMC and supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has been championing cycling culture through various events since 2022.
