The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) is taking firm action against air pollution violators, issuing show cause notices and sealing memos to 108 industrial and commercial establishments. These entities were found operating non-compliant diesel generator sets, according to officials on Wednesday.
This crackdown was part of an enforcement drive that took place from January 29 to February 3, during which teams inspected 300 establishments citywide to ensure adherence to Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) mandates. Delinquent units were identified for using DG sets lacking mandatory emission control systems or cleaner fuel conversions, thereby flouting CAQM protocols.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa declared the operation a strict warning to potential violators, emphasizing zero tolerance towards CAQM breaches. He reinforced the government's dedication to enforcing environmental norms, adopting cleaner technologies, and securing significant improvements in air quality. Defaulting establishments are expected to face environmental compensation and will only resume operation upon full compliance with the regulations.
