Shimla Braces for a Chilly Spell: Yellow Warning Issued

The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued a forecast predicting a wet spell in Himachal Pradesh from January 16 to 21. A yellow warning has been declared for a cold wave in five of the state's districts: Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Mandi, effective this Friday.

According to the Centre, light to moderate rain and snowfall are anticipated in isolated parts of the middle and higher hills during this period. A fresh Western Disturbance is impacting the Western Himalayan region, which might result in precipitation.

Amidst this forecast, the region continues to experience an intense cold wave. Notably, Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti recorded a low of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, while Solan reached a daytime high of 23.5 degrees Celsius. Dense fog significantly affected visibility in Bilaspur and Poanta Sahib, whereas a cold wave was reported in several other districts.
