A tragic incident unfolded as a 60-year-old woman drowned and eight individuals, including five children, went missing after a boat capsized in the Kaudiyala river near Bharathapur village. The incident occurred around 6 pm on Wednesday, involving 22 people from Khairatiya village who were traveling to Bharathapur.

Locals reported that the strong river current caused the boat to overturn. Out of 22 passengers, 13 were rescued. However, eight people, including the boatman and several children, remain missing. Rescue operations are intensifying to locate them.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed rescue teams, including NDRF and SDRF, to the site. Bharathapur village, deep inside the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, faces severe accessibility challenges, adding complexity to the ongoing rescue efforts.
