The India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating a potential cyclonic storm developing over the Bay of Bengal by October 27. The system, currently a low-pressure area, is slowly moving and is expected to gather strength as the active Northeast monsoon continues.
Tamil Nadu has already started experiencing heavy rainfall, with areas like Pallipattu in Tiruvallur district recording the highest at 15 cm in the last 24 hours, though some places received minimal amounts. The conditions are due to a low-pressure system influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation.
Rainfall predictions include light to moderate showers, thunderstorms, and lightning, particularly for Chennai, where temperatures are likely to be between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius. The IMD advises residents in affected districts to stay vigilant and prepared as the weather conditions evolve.
