The India Meteorological Department has forecast the potential development of a fresh low pressure area over the southeast and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal by October 24. An existing cyclonic circulation in the upper levels of the atmosphere over the southeast Bay of Bengal supports this possibility.
The system is expected to move in a west-northwest direction and intensify within the following 24 hours. Concurrently, a depression over the southeast Arabian Sea off the Tamil Nadu coast is showing signs of weakening as it advances north-northeastward toward the east central Arabian Sea.
Another low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu and adjoining south interior Karnataka is also weakening, continuing its movement towards the east central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea. Weather projections expect light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at isolated locations in various districts of Tamil Nadu.
