Nitish Kumar, the chief of JD(U) and former Bihar chief minister, has announced a revised lineup for the party's national office bearers. The list, approved on Wednesday, comprises a vice president and 11 general secretaries.
Absent from the new appointment list is Kumar's son, Nishant, who had joined the party last month. Although party members had anticipated Nishant's involvement in a significant organizational role, he declined a position with the Samrat Choudhary government. Key figures like Sanjay Kumar Jha, Kumar's close colleague, remained in his role as national working president. Meanwhile, Chandreshwar Prasad Chandravanshi has been appointed as the vice president, representing the extremely backward class (EBC).
The role of treasurer continues to be held by Alok Kumar Suman from Gopalganj. Among the general secretaries are Manish Kumar Verma, who previously retired from the IAS, and Afaq Ahmed Khan, a grassroots organizer. The JD(U) president's recent resignation as chief minister has not diminished the party's political influence, as evidenced by a gathering of party legislators reaffirmed this week.
