Ukraine Seeks Turkey's Help in Hosting Presidential Peace Talks
Ukraine has approached Turkey to host peace talks between its President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukraine is eager to reignite stalled negotiations, specifying its willingness to meet anywhere except Russia or Belarus. Turkey's response remains uncertain.
In a bid to revive stalled peace negotiations, Ukraine has requested Turkey to facilitate a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The move underscores Kyiv's dedication to resolving ongoing conflict with Russia.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced the request to reporters, emphasizing Ukraine's decision to avoid meetings in Russia or Belarus. The latter is considered unsuitable due to its alliance with Moscow, having allowed Russian forces to invade Ukrainian territory from there in 2022.
While the Kremlin expressed willingness to host Zelenskiy in Moscow, the Ukrainian leader has firmly declined. Additionally, Sybiha disclosed written communications with Anita Orban, Hungary's incoming foreign minister, earth marking potential new diplomatic ties.
