EU's Vital Loan Decision: A Tactical Support for Ukraine

The European Union is on the brink of a pivotal decision as foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas anticipates the approval of a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine. This financial aid, critical for Ukraine's war efforts against Russia, could see progress following Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban's electoral defeat.

Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, Kallas expressed optimism about a positive outcome during the EU foreign ministers gathering in Luxembourg on Tuesday. "We expect some positive decisions tomorrow on the 90 billion loan," stated Kallas, highlighting Ukraine's pressing need for financial support.

Echoing Kallas' sentiments, Irish Foreign Minister Helen McEntee emphasized the importance of the loan and ongoing sanctions against Russia, noting Europe's role in maintaining pressure. "We've reached a crucial juncture where this loan is absolutely essential," she stressed, following a recent visit to Ukraine.
