In a spirited speech at Sagar Island, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release the pending Rs 2 lakh crore central dues to West Bengal before proclaiming his love for the state's people. Banerjee questioned Modi's commitment, labeling his promises as 'zero guarantee' compared to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's consistent assurances.
Banerjee accused the BJP of using threats and central agencies against Bengal residents, exposing what he called a conspiracy. He further challenged Modi to prove his dedication to women and youth's welfare by transferring funds directly to their accounts, drawing a line between BJP's alleged failures and TMC's initiatives.
The TMC leader also criticized BJP leaders for their reactionary stance against the slogan 'Jai Bangla,' asserting it as a symbol of Bengali pride. He highlighted the TMC's developmental projects, contrasting them with BJP's unfulfilled pledges, notably on the stalled Rs 2 lakh crore package for Sagar Island. The upcoming election results on May 4, Banerjee suggested, would reflect the public's sentiment.
