In a recent press conference, Manipur's Home Minister, Govindas Konthoujam, stated that additional security personnel would be deployed to the state following the West Bengal elections.
Konthoujam clarified that, despite the withdrawal of some forces due to electoral duties elsewhere, the Union Home Ministry has ensured 184 companies of security forces remain in Manipur. He urged the public to support government efforts against armed miscreants threatening peace.
The minister also called for the end of a state-wide shutdown, which protests a deadly incident in Tronglaobi. Furthermore, he pledged job provisions for the victims' families while dismissing any conclusions on forming a new district for the Zomi community.
