The incident transpired near Kuki-dominated Yaolen village shortly after the state's Chief Minister, Y Khemchand Singh, called for peace and dialogue in the region. In the aftermath, conflicting community statements have emerged, with the Kuki Zo Council denying involvement in the violence.
Meanwhile, the Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Long has condemned the attack, demanding immediate government action to ensure civilian safety and uphold peace amidst rising tensions.
