West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has intensified her criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labeling his speeches as 'nothing but a pack of lies' that fail to provide any relief to the poor. Her remarks were made during a rally in South 24 Parganas’ Bhangar district ahead of Modi's scheduled national address.
Banerjee's pointed comments come in the wake of the BJP-led government's unsuccessful attempt to pass the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, which sought to introduce 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies, achieving a two-thirds majority.
The Trinamool Congress leader further admonished the BJP, accusing it of being led by figures once responsible for communal discord. Invoking figures like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi, she emphasized the need for leadership that promotes unity and harmony rather than division and hatred.
