Political Tensions Rise Over Delimitation Bill in Tamil Nadu

Telangana BJP leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy has taken a strong stance against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin's protest involving the burning of the delimitation bill. Reddy claims the DMK's actions are strategically planned to influence the upcoming Assembly elections.

In a statement, Reddy, a former vice chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, highlighted that an all-party meeting led by Stalin previously appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an assurance extending the 1971-based Lok Sabha seat distribution beyond 2026. The current proposal aims to maintain the seat distribution while adding 50 per cent seats to accommodate long-awaited women's reservation.

Reddy rebuked claims that the delimitation bill is antagonistic to southern states, labeling them as politically driven. He expressed satisfaction with the Centre's approach to sustaining seat allocations unchanged and praised Modi for his statesmanship.
