NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has expressed optimism that the alliance will successfully secure funding for defense aid to Ukraine through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) by the end of the year.
Speaking to reporters after a Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting in Berlin, Rutte acknowledged that burden-sharing within NATO remains uneven, with a limited number of countries shouldering much of the responsibility. However, he noted that positive changes are underway.
Rutte emphasized the critical importance of ensuring Ukraine has the necessary resources to remain in the fight, highlighting a broad transatlantic agreement on this priority.
