Global Observers to Witness Assam's Electoral Process
Delegates from various countries will visit Assam to observe the state's assembly polls on April 9. Part of the International Election Visitors' Programme, the initiative aims to showcase India's electoral process. The visitors will engage in briefings, observe polling stations, and witness election technologies.

Foreign delegations from numerous election management bodies are set to visit Assam on April 8 for a two-day observation of the upcoming assembly polls. Delegates hailing from countries like Angola, Bhutan, Egypt, Portugal, and more, will be part of this initiative, according to an official release.
The elections for the 126-member Assam assembly are scheduled for April 9, with vote counting planned for May 4. This visit is organized as part of the International Election Visitors' Programme (IEVP), providing international observers a firsthand look at India's electoral processes.
During their visit, delegates will receive briefings from the Chief Electoral Officer and tour dispatch centers and control rooms to understand poll preparations. On April 9, they will visit polling stations across several districts to witness voting procedures, security measures, and the use of technology, as the programme aims to enhance international cooperation and share best practices in election management.
