DMK MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy has raised doubts over TVK chief Vijay's expertise in geopolitics, following accusations made by Vijay regarding the reported LPG scarcity in Tamil Nadu. Veeraswamy highlighted that the state government has already involved the Central government to address the issue.

In remarks delivered on Friday, Veeraswamy stated, "The Chief Minister has already communicated with Prime Minister Modi regarding the LPG cylinder shortage, and an all-party meeting was held during the Parliament session. The intention is for the Centre to prevent a disruption in LPG supply."

The comments were made in response to Vijay's critique of both the Union and state governments amid the LPG scarcity resulting from the West Asia conflict. Adding a pointed retort, Veeraswamy questioned Vijay's awareness of geopolitical factors, stating, "Does Vijay know about the war between Iran and US-Israel or the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz?"

Vijay had earlier questioned the resolution of the gas issue, citing the adverse impact on local businesses such as tea shops and hotels. With impending Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23, the LPG crisis has sparked heated political dialogue. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance anticipates a challenging duel with the NDA led by AIADMK, as actor-politician Vijay seeks to create a tripartite contest.
