Nepal Gears Up for Speaker Election in House of Representatives

Nepal's House of Representatives is preparing to elect a new Speaker this Sunday, according to insider sources. An all-party meeting convened at the Singhadurbar secretariat on Wednesday resulted in the decision to submit speaker nominations by April 3, with the election scheduled for April 5.

The meeting, chaired by Arjun Narsingh K.C. of the Nepali Congress, who is currently the eldest member of the House, set the course for the upcoming political process. This marks an important political event as the leadership role of the House remains crucial.

President Ramchandra Paudel has called the Parliament session on Thursday, ensuring legislative activities resume on schedule. Until a new Speaker is elected, the meeting will be presided over by Arjun Narsingh K.C., guiding the House through this interim period.
