Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has launched a scathing critique of Kerala's primary political coalitions, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).
Speaking at a public event in the Paravoor Assembly constituency, Singh accused both parties of perpetuating deception on the hardworking people of Kerala for decades. He suggested that the electorate is typically driven not by support for these alliances but by a desire to remove the other from power.
This broadside comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) amplifies its efforts to establish a stronger presence in the state before the crucial April 9 Assembly elections. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's CPI(M)-led LDF is currently in power, a position it has held for almost a decade. Amid this political backdrop, NDA candidate Anoop Antony has expressed optimism about BJP's rising voter share and the search for a reliable alternative among Kerala's electorate.
