The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Akshay Shivaji Kardile for the upcoming Rahuri assembly constituency byelection in Maharashtra, following the death of his father, former BJP legislator Shivaji Kardile. The election will take place on April 23, according to officials.
A BJP release on Tuesday confirmed Akshay Kardile's candidature for the bypoll to the Rahuri assembly seat located in Ahilyanagar district. Despite efforts for an unopposed election, BJP is prepared to contest, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The bypoll in Baramati will also occur on April 23, necessitated by the January death of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Candidates must file nominations by April 6, with the vote count scheduled for May 4.
