Akhil Gogoi, the Raijor Dal president, has officially entered the race for the Sivasagar Assembly constituency in Assam. On Friday, he filed his nomination papers, joining a six-party opposition alliance seeking to challenge the ruling BJP-led NDA.
Before submitting his papers, Gogoi led a procession and paid respects at the historic Sivadol temple. He emphasized his commitment to infrastructure development and heritage preservation during his previous term, urging constituents to renew their support.
Gogoi voiced optimism about the opposition's chances, predicting that the united front would unseat the BJP. He announced that Raijor Dal would contest in 11 constituencies, with friendly contests in others. Polling is set for April 9, with results expected on May 4.
