Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced plans to submit his nomination papers for the upcoming assembly elections on Friday, contesting for the Jalukbari seat.
Having represented Jalukbari since 2001, Sarma expressed gratitude and anticipation in a social media post, urging supporters to join him for the occasion.
Sarma first contested the Jalukbari seat in 1996 and secured it in 2001 from AGP's Bhrigu Kumar Phukan. His impressive victory margins culminated in a record win in 2021. The BJP has included him in its first candidate list for the 2023 elections, where polling will occur on April 9.
