Vikram Doraiswami: Bridging Ties with China

India has named seasoned diplomat Vikram Doraiswami as its new ambassador to China, injecting fresh vigor into the strained ties between the two nations. Doraiswami, part of the 1992 Indian Foreign Service batch, currently serves as the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

This significant appointment comes as India and China seek to mend their diplomatic relationship, which has been severely tested by the prolonged border standoff in eastern Ladakh over the past four years. Doraiswami's role is considered crucial in these efforts.

Vikram Doraiswami is set to succeed Pradeep Kumar Rawat, with expectations for him to take up the position shortly, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs. His new role underlines the strategic importance of India's diplomatic presence in Beijing.
