King Charles Welcomes Nigerian President Tinubu for Historic State Visit

Britain's King Charles is poised to host Nigerian President Bola Tinubu at Windsor Castle, marking a significant state visit that hasn't been seen in 37 years. This visit underscores both nations' intention to bolster their bilateral relationship, with trade between the UK and Nigeria reaching an unprecedented peak.

Prince William and his wife Kate will escort the Nigerian leader and his wife, Oluremi, to Windsor Castle, where a ceremonial welcome awaits them. The state visit includes a royal salute, a carriage procession, and a state banquet, signifying the profound cultural and commercial ties between the countries.

With a substantial Nigerian diaspora residing in the UK, including prominent figures like Kemi Badenoch, the British government seeks to reinforce the UK's status as a global hub for African business. As part of the visit, Tinubu, a practising Muslim, will forego the traditional lunch due to Ramadan fasting, while his Christian wife is scheduled to visit Lambeth Palace.
