In a significant political shift, Assam's Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi has resigned from the Congress party just 20 days before the upcoming assembly elections. This sudden move has sent ripples through the party ranks, as Bordoloi was a key figure within the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.
Bordoloi, a former state cabinet minister and two-time MP from Nagaon constituency, submitted his resignation to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. His move comes at a critical time, with his son Prateek contesting from the Margherita seat in the approaching state polls scheduled for April 9.
This resignation marks another setback for Congress in Assam, following the departure of former APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah to BJP. Meetings in the national capital are ongoing, as party leaders, including state chief Gaurav Gogoi, seek solutions to ongoing internal conflicts amidst election preparations.
