A tragic night unfolded in northeastern Nigeria on Monday as a series of suicide bombings rocked the city of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The blasts, suspected to be orchestrated by Boko Haram extremists, struck at least three locations, including a bustling local market and the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
Sirajo Abdullahi, head of operations at Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency, reported ongoing efforts to manage the casualties, with initial counts remaining uncertain.
