Qatar Declines Mediation Role Amid Tehran Tensions

In a clear statement of intent, Qatar has announced that it will not take on the role of mediator for Iran as tensions remain high following attacks from Tehran. This declaration was made by Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi, Qatar’s minister of state for foreign affairs, during an interview with Al Jazeera.

Despite past efforts by both Qatar and Oman to foster better relations between Iran and Western countries, recent hostile actions have strained diplomatic relations. Al-Khulaifi emphasized that while regional countries do not view Iran as an enemy, Iran's actions make mediation untenable.

Heightening the urgency, an Associated Press journalist reported hearing explosions in Doha as Qatar's air defenses intercepted potential threats over the capital, following a public warning of possible Iranian aggression on Wednesday morning.
