Empowering West Bengal's Youth and Seniors: A New Chapter in Elections

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar revealed plans on Tuesday for the forthcoming West Bengal assembly elections, emphasizing inclusivity by incorporating both young and centenarian voters. Over 6,000 voters are aged over 100, while 5.23 lakh young voters, aged 18-19, are newly registered.

The commission's full bench held comprehensive meetings with political parties and officials to guarantee election readiness. Youth engagement is a priority, with assistant electoral registration officers deployed in constituencies and campaigns targeting colleges. Elections are anticipated in April, with special home voting options for seniors over 85.

Ensuring accessibility and transparency, 100% webcasting will be implemented, complemented by mobile infrastructure for voter convenience. With 294 assembly constituencies, meticulous planning aims to secure fair and informed voting across the population, underscoring the democratic significance of pure electoral rolls.
