Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit Assam on March 13-14, attending a series of government events in Guwahati and Kokrajhar, according to party sources. This visit precedes a significant youth outreach program led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will spearhead a massive Youth Conference in Guwahati on March 15.
The conference aims to bolster the party's youth engagement and highlight opportunities available to young people in the state. Modi and Shah's back-to-back visits are seen as part of a broader strategy to showcase development initiatives and connect with diverse societal segments. Preparations are intensifying by both the party and state administration for these programs.
Meanwhile, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the BJP plans to finalize its candidate list for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections between March 11 and 15. He mentioned that if the Election Commission delays the election dates, a third phase of the Jan Ashirwad Yatra would commence.
The BJP's Jan Ashirwad Yatra began on February 28 from the Dhekiajuli assembly constituency, covering over 900 km across 32 assembly constituencies and engaging with thousands. With the 126-seat assembly elections likely in March-April, no dates have been confirmed by the Election Commission. In 2021, the NDA secured 75 seats, dominating with BJP as the largest party.
