In a forceful rebuke, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the current conflict in West Asia, emphasizing that regime changes cannot be achieved through aerial bombardments. Speaking with reporters on Saturday, Abdullah described the recent killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as an egregious misuse of force and a violation of international law.
'The right to decide a country's leadership lies with its citizens,' Abdullah stated, backing the UK's Prime Minister's stance against aerial strategies for regime change. 'The loss of a respected religious leader is not a change in regime; it is a serious violation,' he added.
Shifting to sports, Abdullah expressed his excitement for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final, where India faces New Zealand in Ahmedabad. 'We're anticipating a strong win,' the Chief Minister said, recalling India's narrow victory over England. Attendance at Lineman Diwas in Jammu highlighted his support for those working behind the scenes to ensure power distribution, praising their dedication and resilience.
