In a bold statement from Tokyo, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney advocated for the removal of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession. Carney described Andrew's actions, which led to the loss of his royal titles, as 'deplorable' and believes they necessitate his exclusion from future kingship prospects.
Despite being stripped of his status in October, Andrew, known previously as Prince Andrew, remains eighth in line to the throne. This position is troubling to Carney, who insists that the principle of accountability must prevail, even if Andrew's current position is far down the succession list.
Carney, a former Bank of England governor, emphasized the necessity of following formal processes to alter the line of succession. Notably, King Charles III's lineage sees Prince William and his children next in line, yet Andrew's presence lingers, prompting international discussions on royal propriety.
