In a significant political development, Aaditya Thackeray, of Shiv Sena (UBT), confirmed the Maha Vikas Aghadi's consensus to nominate NCP's Sharad Pawar for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. This strategic choice follows comprehensive discussions regarding the NCP faction merger and the so-called 'Adaniisation' of Maharashtra.
Aaditya Thackeray spoke at the Vidhan Bhavan complex, emphasizing there was no questioning Pawar's seniority, but he voiced his concerns over party interests. He highlighted the need for clarity, especially concerning the absence of discussions at Matoshri, the Thackeray residence.
Despite internal debates, the MVA alliance reached a consensus on Pawar's candidacy, marking a notable instance of political unity. This comes as the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti dominates numbers, allowing the MVA to aim for only one Rajya Sabha seat.
