Veteran MLA K Babu Bids Adieu to Electoral Politics
Veteran Congress leader K Babu announced he would not contest the upcoming Assembly elections, citing personal reasons. Despite party requests, Babu, who served as Ports Minister and played a role in major infrastructure projects, decided to step back after decades in politics.

Senior Congress leader K Babu, currently serving as the Tripunithura MLA, declared on Thursday that he will not participate in the forthcoming Assembly elections, marking his retirement from electoral politics. In a press conference, Babu cited personal reasons for his decision, despite the party leadership's encouragement to run again.
He emphasized his journey, having contested seven elections since 1991, with six victories, and highlighted the significant role played by the Congress party and the people of Tripunithura in his career. Babu reminisced about beginning his political journey in a stronghold of CPI(M) and noted both successes and setbacks during his tenure.
Babu further reflected on his contributions during the 2011-16 UDF government, notably initiating critical projects like the Vizhinjam International Seaport. Despite stepping down, Babu expressed gratitude to his supporters and has not recommended any successor for his constituency.
