The West Bengal CPI(M) faced a significant setback on Monday with the resignation of state committee member Pratik Ur Rahaman due to differences in views with party leadership.
Rahaman was expected to contest against TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee in the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat during the 2024 general election.
Despite Rahaman's departure, a CPI(M) office-bearer confirmed that the leadership had not yet made a decision on how to address the situation.
