The Election Commission of Nepal has issued a stringent 63-point code of conduct as the nation gears up for the March 5 elections. A prominent directive mandates political parties and candidates to accept financial assistance exceeding NRs 25,000 only through banking transactions, fostering transparency and accountability.

Campaign regulations have also been tightened, limiting activities to the period up to March 2, between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, and imposing a mandatory halt to all campaigning 48 hours before the election day. These measures aim to ensure a fair and interference-free election process.

Additionally, the use of plastic materials for campaign advertisements has been prohibited. Violations of the conduct code could result in severe penalties, including candidacy cancellation or disqualification from participating in elections for six years.
