Congress and Goa Forward Party Forge Alliance for 2027 Elections

The Congress party has formed a strategic alliance with the Goa Forward Party (GFP) ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, aiming to consolidate power in the coastal state. This announcement was made by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar during the Carnival 2026 festivities in Fartoda.

In an emphatic statement to carnival attendees, Patkar promised a future where the cultural vibrancy of eat, drink, and merriment will extend beyond the four-day celebrations if their coalition forms the next government. The Carnival 2026 event, spanning multiple locations, will conclude on February 17th.

This collaboration has intensified political momentum, with GFP chief Vijai Sardesai urging the Congress to accelerate their developmental strategies, highlighting the urgency as 'a make-or-break year' with the elections approaching. Currently, Congress holds three seats, with Sardesai as GFP's sole representative in the 40-member assembly.
