In a heartwarming yet professionally challenging decision, former Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai announced he would step down from his role as election in-charge for six Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, citing the need to care for his ailing father.
During a media interaction on February 3, Annamalai expressed the importance of family, stating that his father's health required his immediate attention, which prevents him from fulfilling his political duties at the moment. He has communicated his situation to party leadership, including Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran, seeking reallocation of his responsibilities.
Despite his withdrawal, Annamalai remains committed to assisting the party in other capacities and is open to future directives. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Rajesh Kumar criticized Annamalai's decision, attributing it to 'poll fever' and predicting continued BJP challenges in the region.
