In a direct confrontation with the central leadership, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin condemned the suspension of eight opposition MPs from the Lok Sabha. He questioned the BJP-led Union government's apprehension over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's inquiries into national security matters.
The Chief Minister, also DMK president, made a strong call for the immediate withdrawal of the suspensions. He asserted that MPs should be allowed to discuss significant national concerns, emphasizing the government's duty to provide transparency and accountability in the House.
Stalin's statements came in response to Tuesday's escalated tensions in the Lok Sabha, where the MPs were suspended amid a fiery debate. The controversy revolved around Gandhi's attempts to address issues related to an unpublished memoir of former Army Chief Gen M M Naravane and the 2020 India-China border conflict, sparking uproar.
