Tragedy in the Aegean: Migrant Boat Collision Claims Lives

A tragic maritime accident off the eastern Aegean island of Chios has claimed at least 14 lives. Late Tuesday, a speedboat carrying migrants collided with a Greek coast guard patrol vessel. Rescue operations are underway, involving patrol boats, a helicopter, and divers, in search of potentially missing people.

The coast guard confirmed that 24 migrants were rescued and taken to a hospital on Chios, along with two injured coast guard officers. The number of injured survivors remains unclear as authorities continue their efforts to find others who might have been on the ill-fated speedboat.
