West Bengal's political scene intensifies as opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari launches a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The lawsuit comes after Banerjee allegedly connected Adhikari to a coal scam without evidence, sparking legal action from the BJP MLA.
Adhikari, a former minister in the Trinamool Congress now aligned with the BJP, announced the legal challenge via social media, condemning Banerjee's 'deceptive silence' in response to his defamation notice. He previously demanded proof of her allegations within 72 hours.
The defamation suit, filed at Alipore court, seeks damages intended for charity. Adhikari insists this legal move is a commitment to hold Banerjee accountable for her claims, reiterating his readiness to confront her legally.
