The Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) alliance aimed to strengthen their political influence in Mumbai's civic landscape, focusing on traditional Marathi strongholds. However, the coalition struggled to make an impact in greater Mumbai and other urban areas.
The alliance led by Thackeray cousins appeared promising, particularly in areas with a high Marathi-speaking population. Despite their efforts, including joint rallies and outreach visits, the alliance couldn't capitalize on its initial momentum.
Critics point to their lack of extensive campaigning and strategic missteps, such as holding fewer rallies than planned and being allotted challenging seats dominated by established parties. As a result, the anticipated synergy failed to translate into electoral success.
