Taiwan's Stand Against China: Lai Ching-te's Defense of Sovereignty

In a resolute stand against China's 'one country, two systems' proposition, Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te reinforced the island's commitment to freedom and democracy. Addressing troops in Hukou, Lai rejected the notion of Chinese control, asserting Taiwan's sovereign status and the right to decide its own future.
Lai, considered a separatist by Beijing, highlighted that true peace comes from strength rather than acquiescing to aggressors. He underscored that Taiwan would not abandon its sovereignty or constitutional system, pointedly rejecting aggression and forced unification efforts by China.
Reinstating Taiwan's quest for independence, Lai announced plans to boost defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2030, amid rising threats from China. The commissioning of M1A2T Abrams tanks from the U.S. symbolizes Taiwan's commitment to self-defense, as international support remains crucial for its military strategy.
