Vietnam's ruling Communist Party has earmarked January 19-25 for its pivotal five-yearly congress, a crucial event to delineate the country's trajectory. State media, on Thursday, announced the congress would elect the Party Central Committee, comprising around 180 decisive members.
The committee will subsequently vote on the politburo, consisting of influential figures like the general secretary, state president, and prime minister. The congress will also deliberate on four major reports, including a crucial review of the 40-year-old Doi Moi reform program, steering Vietnam towards a 'socialist-oriented market economy.'
The congress, in its preparatory document, aspires for a robust annual GDP growth of at least 10% from 2026 to 2030. It pledged strategic vision and decision-making to steadfastly advance Vietnam's developmental milestones by 2030.
