Uma Bharti Signals Return to Politics with 2029 Lok Sabha Bid from Jhansi

Uma Bharti, a prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union Minister, has expressed her desire to contest the 2029 Lok Sabha elections from the Jhansi constituency. Bharti conveyed her ambitions during a media briefing, highlighting her readiness to participate if the party chooses her and current MP Anurag Sharma has no objections.
Bharti took to social media platform ‘X’ to announce her potential candidacy for the Jhansi seat while en route to Lalitpur. She mentioned encounters with BJP workers who discussed her possible return to electoral politics, emphasizing her commitment to contest if endorsed by the party leadership.
The BJP veteran, who represented Jhansi from 2014 to 2019, reiterated her political experience, having served in various capacities under Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Bharti has a prolific track record, maintaining a presence in the Lok Sabha across six terms since 1989, representing constituencies including Khajuraho, Bhopal, and Jhansi.
