Azam Khan, a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, has had his security cover reinstated following his release from Sitapur jail on September 23. While the exact level of his security details remains unspecified, it's confirmed that Khan was previously under Y security cover before his incarceration.
A senior police official speaking on condition of anonymity stated, "There are various categories of security covers based on threat assessment. In Khan's case, he had Y level security which includes around 8 personnel. His security now similarly consists of 5 constables and 3 gunners."
Khan was released on bail after a 23-month imprisonment, whereupon he was warmly welcomed back to Rampur. His legal troubles continue with multiple cases filed since 2017, but his party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, pledges to dismiss these charges should they come to power in the upcoming state elections.
