Punjab staged a large-scale blackout mock drill on Friday evening, officials reported. This exercise aimed to evaluate the state's civil defence preparedness in times of emergency.

The drill, which commenced at 8 pm, saw participation from various agencies. Areas in Ludhiana, including the Punjab Agricultural University, experienced a temporary power cut. Residents abstained from using home generators during the 15-minute duration.

In Hoshiarpur, a synchronized effort was made wherein the power department enforced a blackout, and mock air raid alerts were sounded across the district. The coordinated drill involved emergency services demonstrating rescue and first aid operations, while traffic management ensured smooth running of the exercise.
